A quorum required 3 officers and 14 members. WE DID NOT HAVE A QUORUM!
Wayne Kackley moved that the minutes from the November 2nd meeting be approved. The motion was seconded by John Rohde and passed unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report
We received $X and $Y from the swap meet and fly-in, respectively.
The club has $X + Y + Z.
Announcements
Jeff Breeden stated that everyone must get their dues in as soon as possible. He will ask Josh Bond to post an announcement on the homepage.
Jeff read the club roster and discussed who had and hadn’t paid dues as well as whether he thought they would renew.
Old Business
Cumberland Flyers
Warren Blaine stated that the Cumberland Flyers will liquidate their club. Those members that want to join our club will follow the normal mechanism, paying a full membership. He thought that 6 members may join VSMA.
He stated that we might be able to get a special deal on their mower. It is one year old and they paid $1500 for it. Gilbert Pitts stated that if we spent that much on the mower, we might want to build a shed to protect it from the elements.
Membership
Several members may be deploying with the military. Larry Adkins will be gone for 1 year. He has made arrangements for his son to continue to fly. However, his son must be accompanied by an adult at all times. He can’t simply be dropped off at the field by a family member.
Lease
Jeff will give a draft of the lease to Warren Blaine so that he can examine it. The lease should cover 6 years. We will ask Murph Winters to sign the lease when we pay for the coming year.
Roy suggested that we add a clause stating that Murph can’t encroach on the field.
Gilbert Pitts was also told to send a copy of the lease to Bobbie Schweikert.
Solo Certificates
We discussed the idea of Solo Certificates and Warbird Certificates. Wayne Kackley will try to obtain wings. Bobbie Schweikert will find some certificates.
Jim Bush Fly-in
We must set a date at the January meeting. Tentative dates might be the first week of May or the end of April.
Jeff Breeden will donate a plane.
Newton Derryberry will donate a plane.
Although James might not renew his membership, it was thought that he still may be willing to cater the fly-in.
New Business
Airfield Modifications
Billy Kemp stated that he wants a ladder placed so that it would be easier to get over the fence. Jeff Breeden stated that we would need permission from Murph Winters.
Warren Blaine suggested that we paint a section of the fence red or yellow so it would be easier to determine if a plane is properly lined up with the runway. Jeff Breeden stated that he would get permission from Murph Winters. Bobbie Schweikert volunteered to paint the fence. We do not need a motion for purchasing paint as the cost would be below threshold. Wayne Kackley moved that we purchase the paint and paint the fence. The motion was seconded by Roy Brown and passed unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 20:15.
